Tick Tips:

• Perform frequent tick checks following outdoor activities.  Use the sensitivity of your fingers to feel for ticks – thorough tick checks may take 30 seconds or more. Young children may need your help.
• Encourage your children to play in areas with short grass and abundant sunshine since these areas are less likely to harbor ticks. Avoid wooded edges, leaf piles and stone walls.
• Utilize repellents for clothing and skin. Pre-treat clothing with 0.5% Permethrin. Apply Deet, Picaridin, IR3535, or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus on exposed skin.

This is the time of year that your family and pets can become unsuspecting hosts to deer ticks and you will need to be vigilant.
